How I started my Design Company
Introduction
Hello, I’m Rohit Vinay. I have been a graphic designer for over five years, I have always been into design and art ever since I was a little kid. Bringing my ideas to pen and paper has always given me joy. My favorite medium amidst modern tools has always been the pen and paper no matter how many tools have come up. Although I do enjoy the occasional Wacom use, pen and paper have always been my go-to tool.
Where My Web Design Journey Started
My passion for art led me to create an online portfolio for myself. This was the first time I learned how to create a website and this turned out to be an interesting turn of events in my life, my undergrad College took notice of my skill and they wanted to hire me for their own College website. Similarly, many people started approaching me, wanting to create their website. I had the Knack of integrating my design ability into my web design, doing so I was told that it gave a good appeal to my designs and this motivated me to become a freelancer. I started developing websites for college symposiums, conferences, and a few other people.
Where I got the idea to start my company
During my final year project, my then-girlfriend and now my wife, we fashioned a device which helps blind people see using echolocation, this project was ultimately awarded by the State where I grew up: Tamil Nadu recognized our project and wanted us to present this project on a public scale which landed as an award from the Education Minister and the Vice-Chancellor of our university. This platform gave me an opportunity to meet many industry leaders, successful business magnets, got to have a one-on-one with many of those people, and was fortunate enough for them to have given me time. As I explained what I’ve done, they made me realize I should go ahead and start my own company since I had the leadership quality to go ahead and get started with a new company and being creative they pushed me to create more stuff and which led me to start starting my own company when I was 21 years old right after I graduated my undergrad.
Where I started my company
Starting with a loan from my brother I started the company and I was able to rope in a couple of my friends, they trusted me and joined me to help me out with my Venture one of them was really good at online marketing and another one like me was a designer only just better than me, I had a technical skill to implement our projects, Avinaash had the online marketing skill and Sunil had design skills to design any ideas he could come up with and I should say he’s got a lot of ideas, this seemed to be a perfect team for us to get started and we put ourselves out there to start our own company, once we did that we were able to get clients on a small scale for very little money, we made a lot of mistakes initially and slowly we rectified them and we got a hold on how to run a company and since then I have developed a number of websites for corporates and celebrities and that wasn’t the end of it.
Where our company Expanded
Our clients wanted a website which will be visible for the whole world to see, you might be wondering once you launch your website it is obviously going to be visible for the entire world, just type in their domain name and you can see them, that is not exactly what I meant, what I meant was, for example of one of my clients are big-time Tea manufacturers, what if people search online to buy tea packets, so they wanted anyone who searched such keywords online to be able to see their websites in their search results, Enter online marketing. This took us to the next phase of our company. We were quickly able to learn how to get our clients websites visible to the entire world our first attempt like I mentioned earlier one of our clients were the tea manufacturers, we were able to get their online presence from zero to potential million hits a year in just six months. Their sister company took notice of this and wanted to hire us as well, this solidified our company’s purpose and we began implementing resources and our company’s budget towards acquiring more clients in the online marketing sector.
Where I tell You about my company’s progress
We have serviced over 200 clients over the years and we have won awards for our venture, through the course of all this, I was personally able to build my online marketing skills, design skills, and my web development skills, combining all these three skills we were able to provide a 360 solution for clients. We primarily have two different sets of clients the first one would be people who want to start a new company, we help them by Consulting on how to go about building their brand image and build their company’s online presence and acquire their targeted clients and putting themselves out there and the second set of clients would be existing corporates and celebrities who already have a brand image and they usually want us to consult and implement modern design trends and they want a different approach to the design process and how to go about launching a new product, so such clients have an existing customer base and fan base, we make use of them and build it a step further.

What Now?
Now I’m 28 years old and I’m hoping to build upon this Venture and come up with new ideas in the future for my personal goals and for my company goals.
